Class I Permitted Waste
Municipal Solid Waste: household waste, food waste, glass, cans, wastepaper, clothing, litter (must be in bags), ashes and general refuse.
Dead Animals and Carcasses: Businesses must have a special waste permit from the State of Tennessee to dispose of byproduct or animal waste. (link to state for permit) CN-1051 Special Waste Approval (1).pdf
Bulk Waste: furniture, mattresses, appliances.
Construction Waste: demolition, remodeling, rocks/gravel, brick, soil, wood, concrete, and shingles.
Yard Waste: brush, logs, tree limbs, leaves and grass clippings.
Industrial Waste: All waste peculiar to industrial, manufacturing or processing plants.
Used Oil: (10 gallon limit per year from residentials), Diesel fuel and kerosene
Vehicle or lawnmower Batteries (AA, AAA, C, D etc. batteries can go in the regular trash).
Household Paint: Latex, Oil and Water-based.
Recyclables: plastics, aluminum, steel, metal, newspaper, mixed paper, cardboard, computers, and tv’s (Glass is no longer considered a recyclable).
Tires: Disposal fees apply for tires.

Class III Permitted Waste

Class I & III Unacceptable Waste
Biohazardous Waste: Infectious waste (such as blood, body fluids and human cell lines) is waste contaminated with potential infectious agents or other materials that are deemed a threat to public health or environment.
Hazardous Waste: Includes, chemical, compound, mixture, substance or article which may constitute a hazard to health or may cause damage to property or persons by reason of being explosive, flammable, poisonous, corrosive, unstable, irritating, radioactive or otherwise harmful, as defined by the state in its statutes and regulations regarding hazardous waste.
